Now Enrolling: Winter Explorer Academy — Welcome to Japan
Kids By Design is excited to announce the launch of Winter Explorer Academy: Welcome to Japan, a homeschool enrichment program designed for students ages 7–12, with limited spots available for ages 4–6 with parent or guardian assistance.
Explorer Academy offers a deep, immersive learning experience centered on one location per session. This winter, students will explore Japan through hands-on, project-based learning that brings culture to life. Rather than surveying many places, students slow down and engage deeply—learning how history, geography, tradition, and modern life connect through shared experiences.
Throughout the 12-week session, students will participate in interactive cultural projects such as creative arts, movement, music, food exploration, design, mapping, and storytelling. Learning is collaborative and experiential, allowing students to understand culture not just as information, but as a living system shaped by people, environment, and values.
Explorer Academy is led by certified Florida teacher Shawna Ferguson, whose extensive background in experiential education and student-centered learning supports Kids By Design’s mission to offer meaningful, connection-driven enrichment for homeschool families.
Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:15–10:30 am and are designed to complement—not replace—core homeschool academics. Explorer Academy is eligible for Florida Step Up Scholarship direct pay.
